With our upcoming webinar on the 5 biggest mistakes that prevent you from being found online, we thought it would be appropriate to discuss how to install Google Analytics. After all, the only way to really get a feel for how well your #SEO is doing is by keeping an eye on numbers like site traffic, bounce rate, clicks, and more. Use Google Analytics to know your numbers. See below for a step-by-step look at how to install #GoogleAnalytics:
To add the tracking code directly to your site, you must have access to your website source code, be comfortable with HTML (or have your webmaster do it for you), have a Google Analytics account and properly already set up.
To set up the tracking code:
1. Find the tracking code snippet for your property. Sign in to your Google Analytics account, and select the Admin tab. From the Account and Property columns, select the property you’re working with. Select Tracking Info > Tracking Code as shown below.
3. Select the snippet, and copy it. You must NOT edit the code. For ease, you might want to paste the snippet in a text document if you are worried about accidentally losing it from the clipboard.
4. Paste your snippet into every web page you want to track. In WordPress, the template your usually has a section called Head and you would paste into that location.
5. Check your Google Analytics setup to verify that it is tracking properly, this may take up to 24 hours.
